Feedback
For any events you put on my calendar, you'll get a mail from me with a summary of how it went. I'll take a picture of each event as well. Each day I'll post these pictures and feedback on the frontpage of SimStan.com, along with a "State of Stan" summary of how the day went. Eventually, I'll post these to Facebook as well. You can keep up with things via all the usual channels: I'll be twittering each scheduled event that I do.--Still can't get twitter working with my German phone. :(
Events "lock in" sometime in the night before each day. Each morning I print out what I'm doing that day and work from that list.
Sample Ideas
- The obvious, have me go somewhere interesting.
- Try something very detailed: What if you planned out a lunch in excruciating detail?
- Something meta: have me download some songs and tell me when to listen to them on my ipod
- Feedback. Have me write you a letter. Or someone else. If you want email from me, just have me do it!
- Meta-meta. Have me do something or fix something on SimStan.com
- Don't forget little stuff: Naps, mindless web surfing, zoning out. Let's expand the calendar beyond "important stuff."
Guidelines
This is an experiment, so it's hard to say what will work and what won't, but here are some initial thoughts:
- Be bold: Try something unusual. There is no "the way it is normally done."
- Goals: I will post some goals for my time in SimStan. Use these, along with your own ideas of what my life should be like, as guidelines for scheduling me.
- Home base: I am staying at Oppelner Straße 33, 10997 Berlin, Germany. You can use the "Search Nearby" option of that link to search for stores, parks, or whatever in my neighborhood.
- Travel: Allow enough time for me to get to and from events. A safe bet in Berlin is half an hour. You can use the BVG website to see how long travel by subway will take between two addresses. (My subway ticket gives me free travel after 10am each day.)
- Editing: You may edit or move events created by other of my friends. And people may move or edit events that you created. If your event cannot be moved (e.g. Someone will meet me at that time, the event is a concert with set start time, etc.) please indicate this in your description.
- Details: Your description may be as detailed or as vague as you like. "Surf the web for an hour" is just as valid as "Go to restaurant such-and-such, sit at the table in back left, do not smile, and order the 3rd item from the menu while keeping your legs crossed."
- Necessities: Don't forget that I need to sleep. And need time to get dressed in the morning. The usual. :)
- Sociality: It's always more fun to do things with people. Solo is okay sometimes, but if possible arrange for me to do things with others--including yourself, of course!
Possibilities
Here are some options for things that I have done before.
- Cafes: For an internet connection, I often do work at the cafe Johann Rose, or Salon Schmück.
- Frisbee: I like to play Ultimate frisbee, and there are pickup games Sunday at 3pm at TiB-Sportzentrum.
- Grocery store: I usually go to this Lidl
